MONROE MAYOR DANIEL SHEETS RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION 

MONROE, Oregon – Mayor Daniel “Dan” Sheets officially announced on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, he is running for re-election as Mayor of Monroe, Oregon in the November 5, 2024 General Election. Mayor Sheets is a 18-year resident of Monroe, ITSM & HRSD Manager and Consultant, and a community volunteer.  

 

“I am running for re-election as Mayor of Monroe because, as a community-minded citizen, I am committed to making a positive impact in the place I call home. I want Monroe to be a great place to raise a family, walk with our kids, and enjoy shopping and dining at local businesses with neighbors and visitors. I believe, together, we can build Monroe responsibly into a thriving community for our current and future generations,” said Mayor Sheets after the candidate filing deadline on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.  

 

In Monroe the mayor’s term is two years and Mayor Sheets is seeking a third, two-year term. Mayor Sheets was elected to his first term as mayor in 2020.  

 

The Sheets mayoral re-election campaign platform includes addressing the City’s drinking water, infrastructure repairs and upgrades, economic development, public safety, fiscal responsibility and transparency, as well as community, culture and livability.   

 

Mayor Sheets began his public service when he was appointed to the Monroe Planning Commission in 2013 and served as Vice-Chair from 2017-2020. He also served as Secretary on the Monroe Budget Committee from 2018-2020, Chair of the Monroe Festival Committee, Chair of the Economic Development Committee, Executive Director of the Business Association of Monroe, Member of the Monroe Riverside District Master Plan Project Advisory Committee, and Board Member on the Tri-County Chamber of Commerce.    

 

This November, the mayor’s seat along with three council seats are up for election, including City Councilors Lisa Lindner, Nicholas Ritch, and James Winther. All three City Councilors are up for re-election. Mayor Daniel Sheets is running for re-election unopposed in the mayoral race.
